The Faith Formation Committee, chaired by Fr. Tom Meyer, has designed a unique faith formation program for faculty, staff, parents, and students to make McGivney a Catholic high school, not only in name, but in spirit and faith. Catholic identity is integral in every aspect of the high school, and not just an added component. McGivney's Faith Formation program will create lifelong Catholic citizens, inspiring and challenging students by fostering spiritual growth, Catholic moral values, and the development of individual gifts and talents.

The Faith Formation Committee has established the mission statement for McGivney around the four pillars of the Knights of Columbus — Unity, Charity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. These pillars are particularly evident in theses specific aspects of McGivney's Faith Formation:

  • House Model Organization - Based on the US Bishops document on Ministry to Youth entitled "Renewing the Vision," McGivney will incorporate youth ministry concepts into the House Faith Formation model where students will meet with their "House" - a group made up of a cross section of students from each class. This model allows for friendly competition as well as the opportunity for mentoring one another in an environment that breaks down barriers between cliques and stereotypes.
  • Community Service - Also within the House Model, community service will be a strong part of every McGivney student's experience. With each class year dedicated to a particular pillar of the Knights of Columbus, students will have the opportunity to give back to their parish (Freshmen), region (Sophomores), country (Juniors), and world (Seniors), and share their experiences within their Houses.
  • Theology Curriculum - Obviously a big part of the Faith Formation at McGivney, the theology curriculum includes eight required theology courses as well as theology electives and cross-curricular courses.
  • Faculty Faith Formation - An important element of ensuring the Catholic integrity of McGivney, faculty faith formation will be based on one of the successful programs developed at Paul VI (St. Louis Archdiocese) or Dayton University.
  • Faith Formation Director - By having a Faith Formation Director on staff at McGivney, the faith formation of the students, their families, and faculty will be designed to create a community that grows in faith together. Remembering the original purpose of secondary Catholic education, McGivney strives to bring not just students, but entire families closer to God.
